Be sure to watch in full screen! On Saturday of the 2009 Labor Day weekend, the cameras of Madkitties Studios were blessed with two locomotives, capturing the Hesston Steam Museum at it's height!

  • It's funny how much that Shay towers over the 2-4-2 in the footage of the engine shed. Although I'm sure that Shay would be dwarfed if it stood next to a standard gauge Shay.

  • Actually, Shays can be regauged to run on what ever size track you can imagine!

Here at Hesston, we could in effect borrow a shay from the Cass Scenic Railroad a run it here. Just another of the many advantages of geared engines.

  • @TheMadkitties1 hey what happened to the other large guage locomotive you have. it wasnt the shay or the green 0-4-0 tank but there was another black one. from europe. not the blue goose. it was like 0-6-0

  • That's the O&K, Orenstien and Koppel from Germany. We have been working on it for the past two years, and it's now running every weekend, it's an 0-8-0 used during world war two. We are also waiting for a replacement boiler for our 1911 Porter 2-6-0, hopefully that will run next year.
