Lowe's Home 101 experts, Joel and Courtney, show what to look for if you have a slow filling toilet tank. First thing to check is if the water shut-off is completely open. If it is, look at the toilet fill valve. Sometimes there is buildup in the valve, so cleaning should help open it up. If the fill valve seems to be working fine, there might be a bigger plumbing issue at hand.

Thank you. Opening the water shut off helped me. Very nice presentation, Courtney.

This vid didn't help me at all, but harrybo76's comment certainly did, thank you ! I found the diaphragm valve, saw it had a small split, replaced it, and solved the problem.

Thanks guys... this helped. I just went to Lowes and picked up my new ballcock. I can't believe how slow my old ballcock operated, until I picked up my new ballcock. My tank fills up in seconds rather than 10 - 15 minutes. I am glad I watched this, hopefully it will save my on my water bill next month!

I had a leaking gasket in the shutoff valve (inside the toilet), which prevented the toilet from filling up. It was a pain in the ass to figure out what was wrong, but once I did it was a 50 cent fix.
