Auckland's hybrid-power buses - once trumpeted as the future of inner-city public transport - have been taken off the road indefinitely because of reliability issues and replaced with diesel vehicles. It's been identified as an issue with the Capstone Micro Turbine, which generates electricity for the buses.
Bad press here it seems, this from todays NZ Herald.

very interesting and innovative. Thanks.

Check out their stocks!
Its a day traders dream

their website states that their larger turbine can generate up to 1MG of energy, if you put several together, i imagine that's enough for a small town

their website says one of thier larger turbines can can generate up to 1MG of energy, I imagine that's enought to power a small town if you put a few together

NYC, the biggest city in the US uses these to power buses and minor electrical uses(which, for NYC, are rather large). They are for business, but they can be used for cities.

DC needs some for our buses
-
Ummm, they are too small? These are for businesses, a city needs a much larger one of these... which we already use.

There is no reason why every city doesn't use these. They even take the waste energy generated and use it for heating and cooling(like AC) So it's a double win.
Great idea for cities. I hope NYC buys these.
