China-based Legal Daily revealed on May 27,
that the Chinese Ministry of Public Security
admits of counterfeits being ubiquitous in China.
Southern Daily also reported that the toxic toys
are destined only for domestic sales.
This news has been widely circulated online,
arousing huge indignation of netizens nationwide.
Some say the root cause of the counterfeit problem
is the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
Southern Daily said that a sampling study
of an international environment protection agency
found that many plastic toys in China contain
the toxic phthalates, which has been prohibited
from being used in the toy manufacturing.
The report said, an expert in the Chinese toy industry
reveals the double standards in toy manufacturing
in China. High standards are used for export toys
that are made of non-toxic paint and raw materials,
while domestic toys use low-cost,
but toxic raw materials harmful to human health.
As the June 1 Children's Festival draws near,
netizens are especially indignant. A netizen said:
"Poor Chinese children, you are so unfortunate
to be born in China." "These businesses
and government inspectors are unscrupulous.
It is the result of power and money collusion."
Zhang Tianliang (political commentator):
"The problem does not just lie
in the unscrupulous businessmen.
China's political system is actually a big cause.
You don't have media monitoring, independent justice.
The CCP would suppress any rights safeguarding efforts."
One netizen said that it is a pity so many children
have to play with toys that are toxic to them,
but it is tragic for a 9-year-old pupil in Hubei
to hang himself because he could not afford to buy
a RMB36 study guide, as reported by media
on May 27. He even didn't have a toxic toy to play.
Legal Daily said, on May 26, fifteen inspectors
from the Ministry of Public Security were invited
to visit an exhibit of confiscated counterfeit products
ranging from altered wine to phony brief cases,
touching every single aspect of people's daily lives.
Gao Feng, Associate Director of Investigation
in the Ministry of Public Security said,
there is no place in China without counterfeits.
Techniques for making counterfeits are so advanced,
people can't tell the genuine products from the fake.
He said that students in exams found their pencils
to be fake, and could not help panicking.
Counterfeiters immerse diseased pork or chicken
meat into sheep urine to turn it into "lamb".
The fake products in the exhibit included waste oils,
dyed steam buns, clenbuterol-ed lean meat, etc.
Fake drugs include cold medicines and antibiotics.
To increase weight for more profit,
some fake drugs were mixed with ferrous powder.
Wang Chengde, Hong Kong director of State Admin
of Traditional Chinese Medicine said:
"Many counterfeits exist in the medical field."
Yu Lian, director of China City Development Center
agreed: "We could be a victim too."
Netizens commented:
"This is not strange. Fakeness is from top down."
"The integrity of Chinese people was destroyed
by the movements of the CCP,
leaving behind only the lies and counterfeits.
How could such a nation excel in the world?"
"Too many fake servants, but real corrupt officials!"
In fact, the former director of this exhibition division,
was given a death sentence last November
for bribery, with 2-year reprieve. Its former
associate director was also sentenced to 12 years.
Zhang Weiguo, former Beijing bureau director of
the World Economic Herald: "The root cause
of counterfeiting in China is CCP's political system.
The poison comes from the system, so it is difficult
to correct counterfeit problems without correcting
the system. In fact, it is a dooming signal for CCP."
In 2008, Premier Wen Jiabao said: "The government
will go all out to improve food safety. I don't believe
food safety problems cannot be solved in 2 years."
Two years later, the problems persist
and Wen said that the food safety incidents
indicated how degenerated the Chinese morality is."
On May 11, Southern Weekend magazine exposed
the "Special Supply" system for high-ranking
CCP officials. On May 19, a Time Weekly article
"The 'Special Supplies' That Demised the USSR,"
revealed the huge special supply system
for the Soviet privileged class and its relationship
to the demise of the USSR.
The article hinted the same fate for the CCP.
