Only known full-band performance of one of Springsteen's Darkness outtakes. NOTE: Not the best audio-quality but still great.

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band
Darkness On The Edge Of Town Tour Opening Night
Shea Theatre - Buffalo, NY
May 23rd, 1978
Artwork Included
Audience Recording @ 320 kbps

Bruce Springsteen opened his legendary Darkness tour in Buffalo. The tour would become longer and even more intense as it went on (despite the new material, IMO this feels more like an expanded Chicken Scratch Tour show than a full-fledged Darkness show), but this is still a great concert. Although the audience recording is a little muffled & distant, this is still worth a listen.

1- Badlands
2- Night
3- Something In The Night
4- For You
5- Thunder Road
6- Spirit In The Night
7- Prove It All Night (including the famous long guitar intro for the first time!)
8- Racing In The Street
9- Candy's Room
10- The Promised Land
11- Paradise By The C
12- Fire
13- Darkness On The Edge Of Town
14- Streets of Fire
15- Mona/She's The One

17- Backstreets
18- Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)
19- The Promised (only time this was performed live with the full-band)
20- Born To Run
21- Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out/You Can't Sit Down (Cut)

  • Dear Lord. Thank you for Bruce and the E Street Band. Amen.

  • Keep it angry Bruce!

  • A few days after thr opening in Buffalo, Bruce came to the Spectrum in Philadelphia. It was the 2nd of many shows for me at the Spectrum. DJ Ed Sciacky had already played the whole Darkness Album front to back on WMMR, and of couse we all taped it on high tech cassette tape machines The album was not yet released. In less than a week I think I new every word to every song on he Album. So cool to see and hear the full band vesion, I had only seen the solo piano version back in the day.
