Moyers on America "Is God Green?" | PBS

A new holy war is growing within the evangelical Christian community, with stakes for the earth and American politics. For over a decade liberal Christians have made the environment a moral commitment. Now some conservative evangelicals as well are standing up for the earth as a Biblical imperative of stewardship. In this clip from the upcoming PBS documentary "Is God Green?" from Bill Moyers, airing on October 11 (check local listings), a dynamic conservative church in Boise, Idaho risks criticism from their brothers and sisters in faith when they take on protecting the environment as part of their mission.

@SarahLikesRamen101 Japanese don't have a holy book that tells them to own slaves. Christians have a holy book that condones slavery, and Christians follow that book, and have practiced slavery just like the bible said. I understand that you will defend slavery to the very end, I can't chat with you anymore because if you don't win in an argument, you get mad and name name call. @steelbrushtattoo I guess you should hate italians, the chinese, the japanese, russians, everyone in the WORLD because they all owned slaves at some point in time...by your logic that is. I guess its ok to hate a man now because of what someone did in the name of his religion hundreds of years ago, huh? * rolls eyes*. @steelbrushtattoo Most nazi's or what you call " little Hitlers" are not religious at all, they are anti religion. As for Christians... How can you be angry at a group of people who no longer owns slaves and who admits it was horrible to begin with? Not to mention most people didn't have slaves... I'm surprised you're saying that all people who call themselves christians are ACTUALLy christian, because they are not. You will know them by their fruit. I don't think you know anything about them.

@SarahLikesRamen101 Your right I do have a intense dislike for people who defend slavery in the bible, and are responsible for crimes against humanity. Some people might say give the Christians a break, but I say no, they are responsible for crimes against humanity that we can't even comprehend. Forgive me if I don't like little Hitlers who carry bibles, but that is just the way it is. They never took slavery out of the bible, who's to say that they wont implement it again.

@steelbrushtattoo pt 2. read pt1 first. Go to a church, see the faces of real christians, not what media portrays christians as. Remember, the media is owned by zionist jews who hated jesus, therefor they hate christian teachings and have a lot against the people. Christians are the most giving and loving people on this planet, it's a shame you don't know that. I'm a pagan and i know this, i just don't have faith in their god. @steelbrushtattoo You mean the Americans didn't pay fair enough amount for their work? They are dead, the slaves, and their children now have just as much freedom as anyone else to be and do anything they want. The government gave every slave acres of land. You believe in Karma? So...people who never owned slaves today in america have to pay for their ancestors crimes? Karma? hah, that's absurd. You're idea of what a christian is is warped, they are the best people on this planet, i even know.

@SarahLikesRamen101 OK so I'm n ot calling you a christian, but christians did not repay all the slaves a fare amount for their work. Even if some christians did give slaves something, it was not enough. America will have to fall, it's just karma. People can't commit crimes against humanity and not pay, even karma say bad things come back three times. I can't look at christians as human, even though they have the form of a human. The Muslin solution will be pay back. Christians must pay

@steelbrushtattoo If you're going to keep calling me a christian i'm not going to reply to you. Most nazi's i know are not christian and they hate everyone of a different race. Most christians these days don't care what color you are, because the times have changed. No one has to pay for anything done for in the past, they paid their dues, they gave all the slaves land... or are you ignorant of that fact?

@SarahLikesRamen101 Here is a question: Who was more racist to blacks in America, Christians or Nazi's. In the old testament, your bible, Jews bought and sold gentiles and Jews. The gentiles were treated with no human rights, and the Jews were, so who was racist there. The Nazi's were wrong, but the Jews and Christians brought a lot of the problems onto themselves. Christians owned and condoned slavery, and the past is still alive, and Christians will have to pay for it.

@steelbrushtattoo I live in the bible belt and my whole family is christians, hell i even live near the biggest christian school in america. There are going to be racists anywhere, fact is most racists i know are nazi's, not christians, and they hate religion... that aside it's not christians who want to destroy the world it's who's controlling their strings...once you figure that out maybe you will be on to something bigger. I'm not a christian, so don't be a dick.
