Teochew Opera: 红鬃烈马 2

When the evil prime minister Wang found out that his 3rd daughter (Lady Wang BaoChuan) arranged for the escape of Xue PingGui, and wants to marry him despite Wang's objections, he severed his father-daughter relationship with Lady Wang. She leaves her palatial home to marry Xue, and now lives a life of poverty in a broken-down hut that they call home. But she is simply contented just to be together with the one she loves.

A kindly neighbour arrives with a gift of a basketful of pigeons for food. Lady Wang decides that she will keep them as pets instead. Xue returns home in martial uniform, accompanied by his new sworn-brothers, and tells her of his new imperial military assignment...

Featuring xiaosheng 刘志伟 as Xue PingGui, and young huadan 陈利珊 as Wang BaoChuan. The GuangDong Province Chaoju Academy Third Company 广东潮剧院三团 performing on the opening night of their 20-night opera programme at Feng Shan Temple 风山宫, Defu Lane, Singapore. On 17th Sept 2011, in celebration of the Ninth Emperor God Festival.
