For generations, war and chaos raged across the land of Tyria. Five great races competed and warred against each other, struggling to tip the balance of power in their favor. Then the dragons woke. The all-powerful beasts stirred from their millennial sleep under earth and sea. With their magical breath the dragons spread destruction and created legions of twisted slaves. A deathless dragon named Zhaitan raised the sunken nation of Orr, triggering earthquakes and tidal waves that destroyed entire cities across the Sea of Sorrows. Zhaitan's undead armies surged from the sea, hungry for the destruction of the five races of Tyria: the charr, a ferocious race of feline warriors; the asura, magical inventors of small size and great intellect; the norn, towering shapeshifters from the frigid northern lands; the sylvari, a mysterious young race of visionary plant folk; and the humans, an embattled but resilient people. Now heroes from the five races must set aside ancient rivalries and stand together against their common enemies.

@TheBlackwater200 Because the shoe store doesn't give a shit about what you do with shoes once you buy them. When it comes to a game though, you have to have servers up and running 24 hours a day and support the bandwidth of millions of people's connections, not to mention paying for customer support employees who has to put up with stupid people's shit, ALL YEAR AROUND. ArenaNet's buy-once-play-forever policy is quite amazing and unique, and I'm sure it's not as easy to deliver as it sounds.

Except that your shoes wont be updated every once in a while like for example WoW. Im done with WoW but the monthly subscription is not what got me to stop playing, the game just sucks. With that said my real point was that a monthly subscription doesnt have do be a bad thing since it helps the developers make a better game for you and even if Guild Wars 2 would be monthly subscription i would still play it and pay with a smile on my face.

@Scewyouandyourkind well, if they managed to survive with GW1, I'm pretty sure they'd be able to support gw2 as well, also, like GW1, they're gonna make tonnes of expansions to keep the money rolling

And the last time i checked WoW was far from dead, it still has over 10 million active subs.

Open beta is VERY soon, and since this is gonna kill the holy trinity and have dynamic events, along with PvP and PvE seperation, it will be better then any mmo to date. I'm not being a fanboy, I'm stating the FACTS. and the FACTS are that WoW is dead. the holy trinity of tank/dps/healers that all mmos have is old and overused.So shut your whore mouth

@screwyouandyourkind Sure at one time server costs were sky high, but these days, other MMOs could run just fine without Subs, just as Guild wars does. So the fact that other MMOs STILL charge 15 is ridiculous. This game will not fail for sure simply because other MMOs before this have tried to do what WoW does,but better. GW2 has completely reinvented how MMOs work entirely, and if someone does not agree that GW2 is already the best MMO, then they must be a die hard fanboy.
