@linuxthemoon That's why they allow you to set a master password for FileVault separate from the login password.

it would be nice if this worked... filevaut just locked me out of my own comp! i have my password but the home files seem to have been corrupted and i can't seem to get disk utility to run...

THIS DOES NOT WORK! The account he is "hacking" isn't protected with FileVault, it's just "protected" with an ACL (standard).

This is pretty much useless. You need root password in order to create admin account and when you already are in possession of the root password you can just log in or create a master password for all other accounts .... No offense but it just seems kind of useless to me this post.

Not only is this not hacking, it doesn't even illustrate what FileVault is intended to do. It's in case you lose your computer or someone steals your HD. Without the root password, good luck viewing any of the contents on that HD. This video is bull.
