Dr. Mario "Combo Challenge" TAS

The first 4 and a half levels of the original NES Dr. Mario completed using only one big combo.

This is a tool-assisted movie. I used savestates and slow-mo to play precisely. However, this was no small task. Making this movie took about 80 hours of work.

You can't change the virus layouts or the pill sequences you get, even on upcoming levels. Unfortunately, this makes level 04 impossible. So, I demonstrate something funny to end the movie.

I actually managed to achieve the glitch at the end of this video on a console while making a world record attempt. (If I had a way to transfer the video of my game from a VHS tape to my computer, I would post a video.) I did it by destroying 1 wave of 4 viruses followed by a second wave of 5 viruses, at which point the game froze. I'm not sure why that did it, since that's not nearly as big a combo as the one seen in this video. Any ideas anyone?

You can get a capture card for your computer, you can hook up your VCR to that if you want to get it on your computer...

there's also a store in my city that converts any format to DVD, apparently, if you bring your tapes to them
