  • Hi Eric,

Yesterday I bought the welder , look nice, is an AC welder, I plug it to a 240 outlet.

Wich electrodes work well with this welder, for an strong weld than can resist high heat like the fire box of a BBQ ...? What you think about 7018AC 3/32 rod.? Any advice? Harbor freight, have in sale a 7018 , no 7018AC, I wrong.? and for stainless steel welds.?

    Thanks.

  • @lmrintl Ok, if you want a strong weld, I would go with a 70 something rod. A 7018AC would work just fine, but something alittle bigger like a 1/16. And for stainless welds I use my Certanium welding rods that you cant buy anymore, but I have alot of them, and they are a very very good rod, but for you, some Lincoln stainless 1/16 rods would work, talk to a welding rep at the welding shop, and he will lead you in the direction for what you want for your application.

  • Nice videos Eric,

I have a question, between the 120 Amp Arc Welder AND the 90 Amp flux wire welder, wich one is better for you.? If you can keep only one, wich one you keep, and why.?

    Thanks.

    Walt

  • @lmrintl I would keep the stick welder, only because I seem to have an endless supply of welding rods (steel stainless and cast iron) now, and I hook it up for 220 V at 45 amps, and I can run it anywhere than my generator can be taken. Also because I can weld very well with it now that I have had more time and experience on it.

  • @lmrintl with 120v i use 1/16 rods. with 240v i use 3/32 rods. 7018 is a good rod for penatration i think. and i beleive 6011's look prettier when done.

  • One of the best deals in a stick welder is a lincoln "tombstone". You see them on craigslist all the time in the 100 - 150$ range. You can't kill them. they've been used in bridges and buildings that you've been in and driven on...

  • So the 120 stick amp arc welder is more versatil, and have more power, I thinking start welding, and use to make a custome bbq. I think I will get expeience in some time , and I don't want make a wrong decision now.

Thanks for the advice , I will go with the 120 amp arc welder is $109 an I have a 20% discount that tomorrow will expire.

    Thanks Eric

  • @noeli956 No problem man, thanks!
