  • i get caught in this position when im rolling. what i do to pass get the grips in the leg as you showed, but instead of passing automatically, i sprawl to get that knee on the belly out of the way. from their i would pass with my knee instead of my left and from there i would stablize side control.

thats how i would personally do it but overall nice video

  • @LordNifty

Good questions. These are pretty much built in stops and if you're keeping your position and posture correct the armlock is nullified and the gogoplata isn't even an option.

1- Armlock.Keep your elbows in close to his body while maintaining bicep control hold the biceps and keep posture. I also block nearest hip first.

2- The Gogoplata isn't available to him because he needs an omo position first. He can't get this if Im heavy on his leg with my chest.

  • @dannielpreto Yes I do it from full guard. The guys I roll with are quick with their sweeps so I've learned to use that to my advantage and I started doing this to fight the scissor sweep and its pretty close to what Brandon is showing. Never done it in butterfly guard.

  • @irishclubswinger Same here LOL, I feel a bond with the guy on the video and you, I do it when guys get butterfly, do you do it from full guard?

  • I do this pass a lot usually when they get butterfly guard though. It might not be the exact same thing but now at least I know I'm not the only one doing it.

  • These may seem like silly questions, but how do you keep from being armbarred at the beginning, or gogoplataed at 0:56 if you are not able to catch the particular foot you were going for?

  • Wow, I do this guard pass everyday in my BJJ training, I had no idea anyone else did it like this. Good to see it with better details. Thanks for posting Jake! :)
