Alex reads in English & Spanish- "A Cat & a Dog/ Un Gato y un Perro"

Alex is in first grade Dual Immersion. He is a native English speaker, but his favorite subjects at school are Spanish and Math.

Alex will be reading a book at Dual Immersion parent orientation in March. Here he is practicing the book for the first time. This is the first time he is reading this book on his own, so you can hear him sounding out some of the words syllable by syllable, in both English, and Spanish.

Spanish is a phonetic language, so it is easier for kids to sound out, spell and write.

Alex started studying Spanish last year, in kindergarten.
