Amazing Insects Vol.5, No.1 : Leaf Insect / Male nymph

It lookes female, but it's a male nymph. When I found him on a tree, he had already lost one of the middle legs, but as you see the film, he was very energetic.

Only males can fly. I saw several species of stick and leaf insects in Chester Zoo. But I don't know they are available in pet shops in UK.

I got it in Thailand. We have no leaf insects in Japan.

Yes! They're extremely dangerous! You have to be careful because when you're asleep they'll crawl into your bed and inject their eggs into your pee-hole. Your penis will then sprout leaves. Each of those leaves is actually one of these bugs in its larval stage. They will continue to grow there, sapping nutrients from your penis to nourish themselves. Once your penis is entirely consumed they will be fully grown and fall off. They will then go in search of other hosts to prey upon.

i used to have stick insects in the netherlands,but damn i've only seen these in an orange colour in a pet shop,i'm gonna get some new of these
