When ur born with hearing, u develop the nessecary muscles in you auditory canal to enhance and determine noises. Since she was able to hear at one time, she has those muscles. That's why if a child is born deaf, its crucial to do this type of implant so that they brain can develop and understand sounds as they grow up. My mother has cochlear implants, she lost her hearing due to @meningitis. I'm thankful she can hear again.
