GRANDISSIMO CAMPIONE, capace di battere una leggenda come Hinault, in più persona discreta
e squisita...ciao Campione

I dicovered cycling this year. I've read Lance's books, watched the tour and bought myself a road bike. I'm reading Laurent's autobiography at the moment. I found out he was dead about 2 minutes ago...

Without villains you cannot have heroes, fignon was always cast at the villain and lemond the hero. I have to admit that I was always a fan of lemond, but it was fignon that got me into cycling in 83 and it's still in the blood. But I have just finished reading fignon book and all he wanted was to ride his bike, without him you wouldn't have the battles with lemond, hinault, and guimard!! Some posted a comment a couple of months back that they had a system u jersey, I got lemond's 89 jersey han

He was a wonderfully honest, intelligent and talented man who gave more to the sport then he recieved. He deserves his place in cycling heaven amongst the greats............a man who inspired millions and will continue to.
I was amazed at his courage to continue on with the commentary on French television only last month while in the final weeks of his battle with cancer. He didn't complain or ask for attention.
He went out a warrior and a champion.
au revoir à une grande human !

@bonejure
And commenting the last Tour de France with the tumor in his throat. Maybe knowing it was his last. Always such insightful commentary in such terms that we could understand. But when you love the velo, it's for ever. I have nothing but respect for this man. I'm just sorry that he had to go so soon. I think on the vuelta today there was a special tribute at the start of the race.
