But whereas most people's 'sandwriting' is washed away, one super-rich Arab sheikh has ensured that his doodles will last a little longer.
Hamad Bin Hamdan Al Ahyan, 63, has scrawled his name in sand on an island he owns with letters so big they can be seen from space.

Each of us has written at some point the sand on the beach name and every time the waves came and erased everything, as if nothing existed. But someone made sure that his name will be known and seen even from space.

He constructed the world's largest truck; a replica of a classic Dodge Power Wagon, but eight times the original Power Wagon size This has four bedrooms inside the cabin. The vehicle also moves, and it weighs over 50 tonnes.[2]
In 1983 he acquired seven Mercedes 500 SEL, one for each day of the week, which the firm Styling Garage in Germany painted in the colours of the rainbow complete with matching interior. The vehicles also included gun racks on the inside of the boot lid which held several M16 rifles. The guns were painted to match the cars. The cars are now on public view at the EMIRATES NATIONAL AUTO MUSEUM ENAM Museum outside Abu Dhabi.

Sheikh Hamad owns Futaisi Island, this has been handed down from father to son. It covers an area of 50 square kilometres ( larger than Abu Dhabi central city).It was last given to Sheikh Hamad by his father Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan.(deceased) the past Prime Minister of Abu Dhabi Emirate and cousin to Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (1918-2004) the founder of the UAE. He recently had "HAMAD" carved into the island, which is just over one mile long and is visible from space.[4]

Hamad dreamed up the idea and had his workmen toil for weeks to craft the enormous piece of sand graffiti. It is not known how much it cost to make.
However, the sheikh is president of the oil-rich United Arab Emirates and boasts a personal fortune second only to the Saudi king's.
Hamad, also known as the 'Rainbow Sheikh', is a member of the Abu Dhabi Ruling Family.
He is understood to have some 200 cars including seven Mercedes 500 SELs painted in different colours of the rainbow which he stores in a giant pyramid.

Alongside his lavish displays of wealth he has become a well-known philanthropist in medicine and supplied a complete kidney stone operating theatre to a public hospital in Morocco where he continues to fund its staff
