In this episode of the Rubberneck Radio series, we hear from Nicolas Bourriaud, curator of the Tate Triennial 2009 entitled Alter Modern. Our quest for an answer continues...
Marshal McLuhan predicted Alter-Modernity in 1964 when he said; "In the electric age we wear all mankind as our skin." This comes at a cost; in order to find Oneself, we must lose ourselves.
@nielsvdsteen10 You are a misinformed person. Nicolas Bourriaud is a charlatan; if not a total idiot. Some of his accumulated and appropriated ideas may carry some weight, but altermodern as a genre or movement is bullshit.
Haha, turn of the tape recorder if you can't follow.. Better do your homework before you ask such a question to a guy like this. His vision on art is one that truly connects to today’s society, globalized, and creolized (changed by exchanging) and is the starting point for an altermodern artists who communicates with his audience, taking from the world and reloading back to it with his art. The Post modern times of closed up inside focused artists is about to die out.
He is genius! Altermodernism cannot be fully expressed as it is such a new hypothesis. It has yet to be realised - Only those who are most aware of it's presence in their he shaping of their own art/lives are excited about this. A feeling of traveling forward by making very important connections, as if art was spider-man himself. The actual work is a manifestation of a universal voice, picked up by only the most receptive/children born with the internet.
