Jesus (alternately called The Jesus Film), is a 1979 motion picture which depicts the life of Jesus Christ according primarily to the Gospel of Luke in the Christian Bible. It was co-directed by Australian Peter Sykes and Englishman John Krisch and filmed in Israel.

The Gospel According to Luke (Greek: κατὰ Λουκᾶν εὐαγγέλιον, kata Loukan euangelion, or τὸ εὐαγγέλιον κατὰ Λουκᾶν, to euangelion kata Loukan), commonly called the Gospel of Luke or simply Luke, is the third and longest of the four canonical Gospels. This synoptic gospel is an account of the life and ministry of Jesus of Nazareth. It details his story from the events of his birth to his Ascension. The author is traditionally identified as Luke the Evangelist. Certain popular stories, such as the Prodigal Son and the Good Samaritan, are found only in this gospel. This gospel also has a special emphasis on prayer, the activity of the Holy Spirit, and joyfulness.

According to the preface the purpose of Luke is to write a historical account, while bringing out the theological significance of the history. The author portrays Christianity as divine, respectable, law-abiding, and international.

Most modern critical scholarship concludes that Luke used the Gospel of Mark for his chronology and a hypothetical sayings source Q document for many of Jesus' teachings. Other scholars have put forward the possibility that the Gospel of Luke was based on the Hebrew Gospel. Luke may also have drawn from independent written records. Traditional Christian scholarship has dated the composition of the gospel to the early 60s, while higher criticism dates it to the later decades of the 1st century.

Biblical Scholars are in wide agreement that the author of the Gospel of Luke also wrote the Acts of the Apostles. Many believe "the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles originally constituted a two-volume work."

  • @F3nom8041, your answers are in the bible.

  • @F3NOM8041 : Jesus committed no sin. That's how He was able to pay for our sins. The only reason He was wanted was because the leaders hated and feared Him.

  • Can somebody please help me? All stories about Jesus are the same. Birth- as a child- then baptism at (30). Why he not baptized earlier in life? What sins did he commit? I believe in him, but Jesus was a wanted man before he was baptized and started preaching forgiveness. He was prepared to reap what he had sowed in his life. A lot of missing pieces that I'm having a hard time finding. Guess I have to goto Isreal..... Ill never find out.
