  • @Epochofbelief - You obviously belong to the Pacifying Colonists who brought us electricity, the motorvehicle, and other delights such as pollution, corporate greed, global wars. I am indeed a neanderthal and thank you for your vision and civilising me. It makes me proud to be Maori.

  • @Epochofbelief Likewise.Exactly my view of the Pacifying Colonist culture, nuclear bombs, weapons of mass destruction, enslaver of other cultures, spreader of diseasers - definitely the most brutal culture in the history of mankind. But I am so grateful for your healthcare systems and democracy - and yes "don't mention it."

  • Wow... some pretty hateful comments for such a wonderful korero. Interesting...

  • AND THE TRUTH SHALL SET US FREE

  • there is only one culture.. divided within mind only

  • I enjoyed listening to Te Taru whites korero. I could sit and listen to this guy all day.

  • what a smart man

  • @hippynz+Epochbelief - I am the Guy on the screen rewriting history and portraying Maori in a "positive" light. My daughter happened to be on the system and pointed out your comments to me. Your response is not unexpected and is pretty atypical of the challenges Maori and other indigenous populations have had to endure through time. I sometimes wonder who is neolithic, who is really out of touch when you observe what is happening around the world No matter we will continue on We're used to it

  • @Hippynz + Epochbelief: this guy is talking 'a' truth, and 'a' Maori truth at - but as you SHOULD be aware, becos you purport to be smart, in all societies, there not diverse views, including those who can't be bothered - we are as guilty as having those people as you guys are; and if you want to talk about cultural reinvention, try the neo-conservatives and the war on Iraq; or the Banking sector and the recent world recession. That's your culture; maybe, just maybe you should work on that!

  • Epochofbelief - In the natural history museum in England it says the last sighting of the Moa was by a white man - (so either the white man was lying or the white man was lying) Pretty quick to blame Maori for extinction -most extinction is quite recent ( doc website)- what does this tell you? Whos felling trees in the Amison? Maori religious beliefs are centered around mauri, kaitiakitanga manaaki - the environment, animals as taonga and living along side these
