  • Please comment further ...How was it done when you graduated from Airborne training?

  • its tradition but this guy got his backings put on

your supposed to get them smacked onto you sticking it into your chest makin your chest bleed hence

    BLOOD wings

other wise they would be wings

  • I went through jump in '92. You could pin your wings anyway you wanted to. Have a family member pin them on, pin/pound them on each other, have a black hat pin/pound them on, or even just quietly pin them on yourself. In the 82nd, CO gave a good "love tap" when he pinned EIB's on too. Those prongs were longer and thicker than jump wings. Still, it was done "traditionally", not like those idiot Marines were doing it.

  • LayLay got her Blodwings smacked on to her...... she is Bad Azzzzzz.........2011

  • @MRBF327 1972 OTHER GRADS. PUT YOUR WINGS ON REAL BLOOD THOSE DAYS.

  • @stant47 without the frogs on...

  • @jonvincent12

Normally the black hat would place your graduation wings on your chest with the backings off the pins, and pound your wings into your skin, usually having the pins penetrating your skin causing you to bleed, hence the name "blood wings". My Sgt AB pressed my wings onto my chest hard, pounded like crazy, it was a bit painful but I was proud to have finally been done with airborne school and earn what I worked so hard for.

  • @MRBF327 Please, elaborate.

  • @stant47 they pin it on without backs and punch it so it stabs u thats why its "blood" wings we still do it in the infantry every time u get promoted they used the hat pin on rank to do it.

  • If you are honored enough to recieve any kind of military ceremony/recognition whether it is legit or not you had BETTER be proud... these brave men are the ones who are gonna be out there fighting for the rights most whiney ass civilians are going to complain about and say that things like "blood wings" arent ok and barbaric when in reality it is an honor for anyone who is actually worth getting them... FUCK YOU PUSSY ASS CONSERVATIVE CRYBABIES!!!!!

  • I Graduated US ARMY Aviation School in 1991, I had never heard of Blood Wings. until after pinning them on me the Officer Punched me in the chest! I was shocked at first, Then the guy next to me received the same, and so on. I am proud of ARMY tradition and feel honored to have experienced it. A memory I will never forget. "As AirborneDude80" described the backs were off. This is Tradition not Hazing as the Marines in that video. Wear them proud and always remember! Soldier On!

  • What are blood wings?

  • 87 grad here. I had my jump wings and combat jump wings slammed into my chest. My son will be going through airborne school soon and when he graduates I will be proud to give him his blood wings.
