Russ Conway's 'Time to Celebrate'

Russ Conway composed the song 'Time to Celebrate' for the show 'Mr Venus' - sadly unsuccessful. He then recorded it on the honky-tonk piano at EMI's Abbey Road as the flip side of his Christmas 1959 hit 'Snow Coach'. He recorded it in the keys of C and F, but he played it in E flat when he used it as an intro or outro (can't recall which) for some of his radio shows. This version is played by me, Mike Thomson, on a Yamaha acoustic piano to which I have added some electronic piano sound slightly out of tune with the acoustic piano to give some degree of honky-tonk effect.

Mike, HT piano is a must for this one!

The best bits are at 1 min (Cheeky grin to camara) and 1.25 (Sailor's Hornpipe) which Russ occasionally slipped into his TV performances and recordings - including, of course, the stereo version of this great tune.

Fast pace, with many chords and back tenths in this, resulting in a lot of hard work for the left hand. You probably needed a lie down after this one!

Wonderful stuff this Mike, and a great favourite of mine.
