SP4449 visited the OR state fair in 2003. Here it is leaving the fair. The rails on this seldom used spur are creaking under the massive 4449, painted in American Freedom Train Colors

Well, taste is in the eye of the beholder. I've always thought the artists did an amazing job that complemented the 4449 perfectly. Hope they do a season with that paint scheme again soon.

the rails arent creaking the 4449 (freedom train) is shes not lubricated and shes moving so slow at the time shes creaking

if the big boy was restored and put on track this cracking sound would happen all the time and would be alot louder

thank the lord she didnt derail last time i heard those sounds was when UP#3985 derailed in Laramie got video of the mantis crane hoisting the Tender 3' off the rails

what i mean is that it doesn look to great on a wonderfull steam engine like the one we see here, the scheme is perfect for diesels though

Those rails are layed down just for the state fair...The street is close and the tracks are in short sections already nailed to the ties.
