  • YouTube is bad at threaded replies. :(

I appreciate the thoughtful discussion and disagreement — hey, I can learn something new!

Here's what's useful: you find a standout song even though you dislike most in that "genre", but instead of merely going "guilty pleasure", you explain what sets it apart from others that may seem similar but actually have significant differences.

You don't have to bother, but people who transcend genres (BT, Matrix & Futurebound, Prodigy) do. And succeed! :D

  • Feeling guilty about something Torley? I don't see even a hint of green or pink in this video. O.o

Btw, I wear glasses too, but I have never taken my glasses off while I said something which I thought was profound, like you did towards the end of the video ...

    Bravo!

It makes you look like an art/music critic, which you are. =]

  • Just mixing up my style. Hehe.

  • holy shit Torly turned into a white guy.

I too HATE the term "guilty pleasure".

  • Anyone who likes This Is Spinal Tap is usually a good soul

  • I just figured something out. Torley is my guilty pleasure. Keep up the good work. You ROCK!!!

  • I totally agree with you. Thanks for posting the video, as I couldn't explain it better.

  • He's not putting "intrinsic value in musical talent" over anything, but saying it can be found everywhere; from the slums to the most hypercommercial in pop productions. There's no assumptions, no bias, no elevation of either the "real artist" or the multimillion selling pop sensation. It's all music and will be judged on that criteria first and foremost. If a commercial pop song is pants then so be it, but if it's good there'll be no sweeping it under the rug due to its origin.

  • You look so much different than I thought you would from your voice lol, see ya in second life

  • Read it again when your a little older, you may change your mind :-) he makes a excellent point.
