This is a film showing a water project we are in the process of building in the Copper Canyon area of the Sierra Madres Mountains of Chihuahua.
Before criticizing our efforts to prevent more suffering please continue reading below or check for yourself online. You could ask yourself "what am I doing to help the world?"
We receive some negative comments from time to time from people who make rash judgments and are simply ignorant of the work we are doing for the Tarahumara. They think we are trying to change their culture, but that is not what we want to do.
The Tarahumara experience an 80% infant mortality rate and a little less than that for the elderly. This is caused by contaminated drinking water. The Tarahumara women suffer from back problems because they have to spend lots of time traveling long distances to carry water for their families with their babies on their backs. The Tarahumara are also suffering the effects of malnutrition because of drought at least 8 months out of the year.
Our clean water projects are helping to reduce these statistics.
