  • Your fingerings are not always correct. Eb is a half hole note! C#/D/Eb are all with the half hole. E natural to G# are back octave, and A-C are side octave. You probably want to note this. I will make a video response to help out as well but it would be nice if all the information present was correct as we dont want to give anyone any struggles with an already challenging instrument.

  • E is debatable for the octave key, I understand about the half holes but I have a pretty messed up oboe and E and D sound better with closed hole and C# is good open : P. Ok that sounds good, sorry I try to make it accurate but I dont have as much time to spend on these as I would like. : -P I'll ok whatever response you have.

  • You're... "handy shot glass" ??? lol.

I have a question, for bass clarinet, not oboe... lol Anyways, you soak ur reeds in water, with bass clarinet reeds my director says its bad for it... but he knows NOTHING about woodwinds... cause he is a trombone player... does it harm the reed at all?

  • no, sorry but he must be completely inept, you MUST soak your reeds or else they will chip. Maybe only for a minute but still definately need to be soaked

  • thanx please make More!!!

  • yeah sure, glad you like

  • I have a question im 11 (on my 16 yr old sis account) and i play clarinet and violin i want to play the oboe...any advice? btw i learned the clarinet in 2 days knowing al the notes and everything so i pick up fast ;)

  • @moraesfmk Pretty much, yes. Failing to properly soak your reed with either result in a damaged reed or poor sound.

  • I'm interested in learning the oboe, but, watching your video, I was wondering - What's the reason to put the reed in water for 5 minutes? Is this necessary for, like, every time you want to play the instrument? Forgive my noobness, I'm a pianist. :P

  • @InstrumentManiac actually if you just put your reed in your mouth and suck on it while you're putting together your instrument, it works the same way. i don't play any reed instruments yet (actually, i'm a piccolo) and this is my first day on oboe, but my two best friends have been playing clarinet for years, so i trust them

  • uhhh did any onee else video freeze near 7 min?

  • I play oboe, the oboe has many different fingerings, it could also be just a different fingering.

  • @hipepleful Yeah

  • @rosehips360 Yeah

  • i don't soak mine.......i used to, but then it became a hassle. is that why it chips at the end? and i can still play it chipped, right?

  • if i switch to oboe from saxophone (ive also played flute french horn and clarinet) would it be a bit easyer to me in anyway?
