My first successful solve of a megaminx blindfolded. It was only my second try. I didn't record the memorization because it's boring, and besides I didn't know how long it would take and I was afraid it might not all fit on one tape. After the start, video is sped up 8x so it will fit.

I memorize edges first, then corners, and then solve corners first, and then edges. Memorization time was 36:30; total time of memorization plus execution was 1 hour 18 minutes 0.87 seconds.

The hardest part of this is figuring out and keeping track of the setup moves. I actually only use two "algorithms" and their inverses for the entire solve. (I would use a third for twisting already-solved corners, but this particular solve didn't need that.)

  • Corners first?

    Does parity even exist?

  • Yes, I memorize corners last and then solve them first. And no, there is no problem with parity at all.

  • That's amazing!

How did you approach memo? I'm assuming you memorize every sticker, since you only use two algs, but how would you memorize so many different pieces?

  • I memorized the stickers by labeling the faces A to L, and for edges I memorized the first face followed by the second face to make a letter pair which I used one of my images for, and for corners I labeled the corners around each face from A to E and generated a letter pair that way. This requires around 30 images for edges and 20 images for corners (more or less depending on number of cycles). That's about the same memorization (in terms of number of images) as a 5x5x5.
