Phew! Finally!
------------------
Nick’s POV.
Graceful. Smile. Don’t let them know how anxious you are to see Summer. Fix tie. Three, two, one. Open limo door. Step outside, smile to adoring fans. Wave. Red carpet. It’ll take ten minutes. Then you get to see Summer. Ten minutes, you can deal with that. One step left, one step right.
“Nick! Nick!” I turn my head in the direction, though my heart is longing to go the other way. Sprint down the red carpet, skip all of this press. Just see the girl I love. I put on a brave face. Grin and bear it Nick, grin and bear it…
Twenty torturous minutes later, I’m finally inside. Two minutes away from where I’m supposed to be meeting Summer. A long hall stretches out in front of me. I haven’t even seen the ballroom yet, and frankly, I’m not really interested. Usually, I’m psyched to see the interior of the venues or parties. Now, I couldn’t care less. I pick up the pace, and soon enough, I’m sprinting. I reach the door and slow to a stop. I look at the door behind which my Summer is waiting for me. I can picture her sitting there, giggling with Brooke. Mom is already downstairs. I saw her. She looked beautiful, I was proud of her. I carefully knock on the door. It opens and I see a woman I don’t know. She’s wearing black wide legged pants. A fitted white shirt with a black blazer over it. She has a headset on her head, barely visible through her blonde curls that fall in ringlets around her head. The only thing that gives it away, is the mouthpiece that’s in front of her cheek.
“Nick, come on. Summer has been waiting for you,” she says with a smile. I smile as well. I suddenly feel like this is my wedding day. That I’m on my way to the altar with Summer. Like this woman is the wedding planner and she’s ushering me to my bride. It makes my stomach turn into pleasant, happy knots. Butterflies to be exact. I walk farther into the room. Golds and creams, all around. The room is quite beautiful, but when my eye falls on Summer, it’s all forgotten. No one else is in the room with her, except the woman. I would question where Brooke and Molly are, but I don’t care. Summer’s back is facing me, but I can see her reflection in the mirror she’s looking into. The gold rimmed mirror with lights around it. It makes her look like an angel. She turns around and it looks like it’s in slow motion. The sight of her without it being through the mirror, is heart stopping. I have to remind myself to breathe, it backfires for a moment until my lungs start burning. Summer bats her eyes shyly, her gaze on the floor. Her eyelashes look impossibly long and beautiful, and that’s not even the most important part. Her glossy brown hair falls in long, thick curls down her back and sides of her face. On one side, it’s clipped back with a butterfly shaped diamond pin. It’s simple, yet elegant, and perfect for Summer. Her creamy skin looks flawless and gorgeous. I let my eyes run down her body and again, my breath catches in my throat. Her dress is stunning, completely and utterly stunning. A creamy, champagne color, silk, down to the floor. The front dips down between her breasts in a V shape. The color sets her skin off beautifully. There’s a sash right under where it dips to, giving the dress its form. Under that, it hugs Summer’s body and flows out around her legs. The fabric looks so delicate, like it’d tear if you’d touch it. Just like Summer looks right now. So delicate and fragile. The most beautiful thing on earth. I take a step closer to her slowly. She stands up and this makes the dress look even more amazing. She still hasn’t looked into my eyes, her cheeks still flushed that perfect shade of pink that no blusher could top.
“Summer…” I breathe. She now looks up and straight into my eyes. Everything about her sets her emerald green eyes off so much, I’m almost knocked off my feet by the mere sight of her eyes.
“I… There are no words to describe how beautiful you look. I’ve never seen anything so perfect in my entire life,” I whisper. Summer’s perfect lips turn into a smile and she takes a step closer to me.
“Thank you, Nicholas… You look…” She hesitates, and I use this as my answer. I carefully slip one arm behind her waist, afraid to ruin the dress, and pull her closer to me, closing that last inch that stands between us. I softly touch my lips to hers and the feeling it gives me leaves me light headed.
“I love you,” I whisper, moving her lips with mine.
