Crowley said: "We have a report of a possible burglary, can you show me some identification"

Gates said: "Why, because I'm a black man"

That was PRIOR to knowing if he was a burglar or not

So.....in the middle of a possible robbery, you would like the officer to waste time pulling up a photo.....put it next to the suspect......just to make sure. How about the COP could get shot?

THE BOTTOM LINE: Gates should have simply acted like the majority of people would. "Here's my ID, I'm so sorry you were called out, I locked myself out"

But instead, the officer gets: "Why because I'm a black man"?

A group or nationalities population per area has no bearing on the term racists. If a black dude said "all whites are worthless" vs a white guy that said "all blacks are worthless" they would both be racists.

By your own definition being the white majority automatically makes you a racists--common man, what sense does that make. only a persons actions will speak to this effect.

He said that Sgt. Crowley OVERreacted and then grudgingly admitted that Mr. Gates OVERREACTED but what he never quite got out was that in calling white people committed to protecting Mr. Gates while doing their job ACTED STUPIDLY when he really didn't have a clue as to the facts maybe acted THE MOST STUPIDLY OF ALL!!!!.

I'm sure it was a tightness in his throat which comes on whenever he has the task to apologize. The poor guy just can't say the words.

I agree Obama used platitudes and euphemisms on the campaign trail. However, he does understand and discuss issues in a more intellectual way then Bush. I don't see how he stereotyped white police officers. Personally, i think he just called a spade a spade by saying the police acted stupidly, but that's just my opinion. I understand your cynicism, but i really do hope some of the political elite care enough to help fix healthcare.

Maybe the new president could continue the war, then go around the world on an apology tour. Good thing Hope and Change have nothing to do with platitudes and euphemisms. So glad that Obama stereotyped white police officers, great way to tear down stereotypes through stereotypes. Lets put our faith in places like ACORN, SEIU, unions and Czars. Bush was a failure and so is Obama. Both parties are leading US to failure. Time to rid the ppl of the Political elite.

I agree, he should really only stick to saying things like war on terror and Mission accomplished like our dear old last president. Platitudes and euphemisms are are the only thing we want to hear. We want a president that has unwavering faith in organizations like the police/military/corporations/b­anks - honestly when was the last time institutions like these let us down?
