Ya, but dont forget that the images we have on the Plesiosaurus are estimated, not factual .... whos to say that they werent a little of on the tail to begin with?
Either way, it was still quite a few fins extra for a whale, and the tail STILL does not match that of a whale, shark, or anything else we are familiar with ...

If crocs survived extinction 65 millions years ago why not plesiosaurs too.
