  • Jake - that friggin kicked ass. Love your interpretation of one of the best ZZ tunes ever! Tyruly enjoyed this and I lookin forward to checkin out your other stuff! Well done man, keep playin!

  • @xr650r01 Hey thanks Man, glad you liked my version of this classic tune. I like to have fun & do my own thing whenever I cover a song. You can find my most recent vids at my channel "JakesHwy61bb" under my playlists to the right of my video player "Halden Vang Power Trio Video's" & "Jake~age 14 & 15 Updated Videos" .

  • Go back and listen to the original ZZ Top version; learn the stops and bridge. Your solo's completely out of context, it should modulate between E and A, it does a rest when it comes back to the E. The intro figure syncopates on the low E (octave of the figure) and resolves on the B string at the 12th fret. Last but not least, this song really calls for slide guitar (or some reasonable approximation). Good Luck

  • @dospesentas Hey man..thanks for your advise, but I do songs in my own style and I like to put my own stamp on them..don't really care to follow the original model & copy cat how they did it..It's already been done that way over & over...I'm not a cover band and I don't like to cover songs note 4 note, that just shows memorization skills. I prefer rearrangement and creative interpretation, otherwise we still be playing Mozart and playing blues songs with a tin cup & a gasoline/cigar box guitar.

  • @dospesentas How many 14 year olds do you know that can not only play this good, but hit vocals like that too??? Cut the shit - this kid is GREAT and this cover has some real teeth! I've been playing longer than this kid has been alive and he can play circles around me. Hell, he can play circles around a lot of musicians you hear on the radio today. I know he asked for comment, but it sure sounds like you are trashing him. If that's the case, you're outta your mind bro...

  • @xr650r01 Glad you get it man!!! @dospesentas did the same thing to another one of my vids "Big Legged Woman" watch?v=SviDkSlWZgE He must be a real traditionalist, in the box type of thinker. Some people think that you should only color & stay in-between the lines. I don't believe that oppressive thinking belongs in music & the arts in general. I think creative interpretation and rearrangement is important, music shouldn't be a carbon copy of the originals over & over again, it makes it stale!

  • hey there! glad to see you putting your own own flavor on these songs! it's nice to see some one not doing the whole bonamassa thing. great job.

  • Kick ass! I love that you made it your own but still held on the the ZZ Top flavor. Great job.

  • Nice job man! Keep on rockin!

  • @JakesHwy61BB u sound like a fucking genious/very open minded. lets me know theres still hope for this generations teenagers.

  • @dospesentas I totally agree.

  • i wanna be just like you when i grow up!!!!!! and im 16 and a half!

thanks for makin me feel like a worthless piece of shit.

  • @WiCkedRiDDleBOX19 It's not about me, it's about learning the parts. If you're going to cover a song you should at least sing the right lyrics and play the correct changes - it has nothing to do with 'note for note'. When you omit the more difficult changes/parts, it's lazy and wrong, not improvisation - that's an excuse for playing it wrong. You can add your own licks, chord inversions, etc. but they should revolve on the songs correct changes. Feel free to accept mediocrity - I don't.

  • i like your bass player, he reminds me of the guy from mythbusters

  • @dospesentas I really dont think you are getting it. he doesnt care wtf u think. it sounds good and he put his own touch to it back the hell off, theres no point on playing a cover note for note, when i play bass covers i put solos in it and for riffs that get boring i improvise shit to spice it up. if your going to play a cover note by note and thats all you do your going to musically get nowhere in life, this kid will be out there jammin on the stage and youl have 5 subscribers on youtube.
