A great 45 minutes at Joan Croft Level Crossing - between Doncaster and York on the East Coast Main Line (ECML) - sees a variety of trains in high speed action.

A National Express East Coast 91 set is first, followed by another heading towards York and Edinburgh. A Cross Country Voyager is next from Newcastle, then a low angle of one of First Hull Trains Pioneers DMUs. The first freight of the session is a 66-hauled coal train. HST interest is provided by the National Express East Coast service to Aberdeen before another Voyager heads towards Edinburgh.

  • nice video, i wish i lived near a mainline, i would be out filming all the time, just a quick question what camara are you using to film your HD videos, thanks

  • Most interesting to see old school manual crossing gates still in use. I'm pleased to see that NR have provided the crossing keeper with satellite TV to pass the time in his lonely vigil. I suppose he used to live in the cottage, but now he's just got a portakabin.

  • Love the 125 MPH speed!

  • I used to know one of the gate keepers there once very friendly =)

  • So peaceful, I must visit that place one day, thanks for sharing!

  • There is something faintly scary about the combination of manual gates and 125mph trains. I can see this is a seldom used minor road though. Still an odd juxtaposition.

  • nice video liked!
