Even a bassist of John Wetton's caliber was no replacement for Gary Thain.
He was, indeed, the best bassist ever!

I was born 1976. WAY TOO LATE

I think Gary Thain was the greatest bassist,,,perhaps ever. He plays the bass guitar like greats the solo guitar.

@8TrackMachine First off, thanks for all of the info. I appreciate it very much. Also, on Gary Thain.....vaguely remember reading that in R.Stone, Circus Raves....one of the mags that carried news of that nature back then. Man, 27 IS the number huh? Strange. : D Corky
Any idea on year 8trackmachine? Gary Thain was electrocuted on stage in mid 70's ? 72 or 73 maybe. "Sweet Freedom" released after D.& W. I believe. : ) Sorry about all the questions, you've got some great uploads here. Get carried away. (LOL) Love it!

@kneapoe51 This was filmed in 1973 . As for Gary, During his last tour with Uriah Heep, Thain suffered an electric shock at the Moody Coliseum in Dallas, Texas on 15 September 1974, and was seriously injured. Due to his drug addiction he was not able to perform properly, and was fired by the band in early 1975 and replaced by former King Crimson bassist/vocalist, John Wetton. Thain died of respiratory failure due to a heroin overdose, on 8 December 1975, aged 27. Yes S.F was demons and wizards
