This is my version of the lead, low sidekick, to the knee. "My" version of the sidekick is a kick I`ve not seen others do, but I guess maybe there is somebody out there who actually does a version of it.

The interesting thing with this kick is that it is possible to do without telegraphing, it is very fast, very strong and very explosive and can be done from a distance far away from the opponent. One of my favourite kicks indeed! This tutorial is in Norwegian language only, but you can still understand whats going on.

First I demonstrate a couple of sidekick version, then i slowly explain and shows MY version, and then you`ll see several attempts to do the sidekick, including a slow-mo version.

Hope you`ll like it!

  • But does a side kick to the knee break?? It not be shown? not even in ufc.

  • @ncgfbl: A hard sidekick to the knee, can definitely make some serious damage, possibly breaking it, at least if it hits in the correct angle and with enough power behind it. But nobody said it was that easy to make it happen. :) Only thing I know, is that the sidekick you see in the video, is quite brutal, if it hits the target. :)

  • Looks deadly, but looks like you gotta have a lot of martial arts practice to do this.

  • Its quite difficult to execute the kick, takes some practice yes. But when you understand how the technique works, then it`s a VERY powerfull kick.

  • so your whole body is in motion when you land the kick? doesnt seem like you could generate as much power.

  • Oh, there is quite a lot of power involved in this kick. Because you dont kick with only the foot, but with the whole body. And when moving in at the same time, you will get several hundred kilos of force landing on the leg/knee of the opponent, so it is a very powerfull kick.

  • I can see, it looks like it would seriously break some bones if performed at full force.
