A very, very rare clip of Jamila performing. Clip features Jamila and Suhaila at a 1977 workshop show in the Northwest United States (either Portland or Seattle). The performance has two sections, both included in this clip.

  • wow, what a snipet of history!! never saw jamila dance before. i started around that time but didnt know anything was going on (shows, etc). love going back in time. sounds like alot of the old music i got at that time. thanks so much for the posting. btw what is belly dance central

  • the second dance is Atchan Ya Sabaya..you can get the music online, but this is the old version. I expect you could probably get it from Suhaila.

  • @KosherGoddess hi dear, this is Sallem Aley on Dances for Festive Nights, this is what Jamila used in her classes in those days, ( I know, I was there:-) the second track is Atchan Ya Sabaya on the same album..you can get it at the itunes store now..hugs

  • I can't even express to you just HOW AWESOME THIS IS!!!! AHHH!!!

  • Amazing choreography! Does anybody know this music and where to get it?

  • Wow, thank you for sharing! Watching this, I feel like I can see the early beginnings of what eventually became Suhaila's signature style, but I can also see how if this is what Masha Archer was learning, how that could have been passed on to Carolena and glimmers of it appear in ATS. It's neat to see that both came from the same tree, and it's apparent in this video. Again, thank you!

  • This makes me very happy!!!!
