As It Happened - the Tragic Death of John Kennedy Jr. - July, 1999 - part 4 of 7.

Like many of you, I lived through the assassination of Pres. John Kennedy in 1963. I was stunned to see his son John Jr. die in July 1999 in a plane crash. I ran over 9 hours of tape that day, from various networks. Here is the first 70 minutes of what I recorded. Especially now that Ted Kennedy is gone too, I feel it's very timely to post this footage. I still cannot believe it. almost 11 yrs later :-( I used to see the Kennedy's in Manhattan. I was heartbroken when I first heard, and I still feel astonished and sad

JFK Jr was a common citizen that had a well connected family. He was the product of nepotism and politcs. He KILLED two woman and himself when he crashed his plane. Instead of being charged with reckless homocide, uncle Teddy boy got a military burial at sea off a U.S. warship, then sent the 3 million dollar bill to me.

@cliffdimerandy I once saw him at the funeral of a colleague's brother. John Jr. was my colleague's brother's college room-mate. He was the most handsome, magnificent-looking man I'd ever seen. He appeared very nice and down-to-earth. I kept my distance because I was intimidated by who he was, but I wish now that I had at least said hello. My colleague's brother died tragically crossing a busy highway, and then just shortly later ( I think a couple of months) JFK Jr. died as well. I was stunned.

I think it is very sad that Rory Kennedy's big day was ruined by John's crash.
