The first ever outdoor concert in the LANXESS SNYO CLASSIC Series played to a rousing crowd of 2,000 people at the scenic Singapore Botanic Gardens on 12 July 2011.

The 90-member strong orchestra played a rich repertoire comprising Richard Wagner's Overture to 'Die Meistersinger Von Nürnberg', Tchaikovsky's 'Andante cantabile' from Symphony No. 5 and 'Allegro vivace' from Violin Concerto in D major, op. 35 with a special solo by violinist Selina Tang.

The crowd favorite was obvious though. The encore performance of John Williams' Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone had everyone enthralled as the lyrical tunes brought back memorable scenes of the blockbuster.

Continuing LANXESS' support to nurture young talents from the Singapore National Youth Orchestra (SNYO), A Musical Chemistry in the Woods was the second concert held this year. Held in celebration of the International Year of Chemistry 2011 (IYC 2011), the grounds of the Botanic Gardens were sprawled with the LANXESS colors of vibrant red and black, courtesy of the picnic mats provided by LANXESS.

A resounding success, many in the crowd expressed looking forward to the next concert in 2012!
