The Hauppauge HD PVR is a great way to upload videos of the newest games with outstanding high definition component capture. You can record up to 1080i (not 1080p). This device does not support HDMI cables, but from what I've heard, HDMI cables' data rates are extremely high and would eat up your hard drive in no time.

The footage of UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves was recorded with the HD PVR at 60 frames per second in 720P HD, which gives a nice example of the video quality this device can record with.

For more information on the Hauppauge! HD PVR 1212, please check out their official website here: http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr.html

  • I need help, i dont know much about HD PVR and the problem is my TV isnt a HD tv can you please tell me which PVRs are recommended? im serious i dont know anything of this stuff and wanna record in game

  • @TheRyong20 If you don't have an HDTV, then don't even bother.

  • how do you upload to your mac? i made recorded gameplay, saved it, but couldnt get it to imovie with full sound

  • @jewbybrother579 I am not a MAC user, but you could try using a different output format, such as .MP4 (select XBox 360). I'm sorry for my lack of a solution, but try a quick Google search or look around some forums about the device.

  • wat if lets say u recoder a black ops game play u plug it in as the game starts will it start recoding as soon as plug in? also when done recodeing can u upload that video to youtube with out haveing to edited it? sry for spelling my keybroad is messed up

  • @theradfromps3 You most likely will have to edit it, but for a game like Call of Duty: Black Ops, I would recommended starting the recording software (Total Media Extreme) as the match is loading (where it displays the map's name and there is a bar at the bottom of the screen) and recording in .MP4 (which YouTube supports). Remember that you have to stay under 16 minutes, so don't get used to not editing.

Remember to select a higher bit-rate under Total Media Extreme's settings for HD games.
