I played this piece for my senior recital at the University of Iowa. It was a far from flawless performance, so feel free to leave any comments or criticisms. Enjoy!
I'd personally exaggerate dynamics more to give it a feeling of intensity at times. I haven't seen the score, but the opening bars, for example, feel as though there should be a crescendo to give the feeling of soaring. Things like that. Also the section around 3:50 should feel a little bit "sneakier" to me. Like Tom is tip toeing behind Jerry. That's both from a dynamic as well as stylistic perspective. Lol But again. Very nice. I like it. :-)
I'm listening to it now and it sounds GREAT. I really like your technique. It looks very similar to Mr. Ford's. Did you study under him? Very nice tone, dynamics, expression. I'm only at the 2:00 mark, but so far I give it an A. Very nice!!!
Very ambitious! This piece looks to be very meaty and technically demanding. The cool thing is, unless one lets on or someone knows the music well, the vast majority cannot detect errors. You executed some difficult passages very well. Kudos!
@MeetTheMattsons then if you know this solo so well post a video of you playing it before you open your mouth keep criticism constructive and don't be a dick
flawless? lol. He played one dynamic level, inconsistent rhythm, tons of wrong notes, weak mallet independence (especially on the right hand rolls), and completely fails on the 32nd note runs, performing most of the difficult parts WAY down tempo.
