Photographs of a family of Rhesus Monkeys on the Silver River in north-central Florida. Except for the ramp area, all shots were taken from Lou's kayak.

  • What song is at the beginning?

  • @qwertyajb ...The song is "Fields of Gold"

  • How do you think that they handled the cold winter we had last year? I know we had some pretty prolonged cold snaps...even though they have fur, do you think that it bothered them any? Have any of the monkeys left the Ocala area, or do they stick around there?

  • @yankeegurl62 There is little doubt last year's cold winter presented a hardship to the monkeys. However, a kayak trip up the Silver river last January confirmed their survival. My observations suggest no decrease in population, and the families continue to thrive. They all look healthy.

Another kayak/photo trip is planned for later this year, in December, to capture more images. I plan to produce another video to include video clips along with new still closeups.

  • I was just on the Silver River this week.. didn't see them but they followed us for quite a while.. we heard them in the trees and they were calliing to each other back and forth.. still too many leaves in the trees at this point.. and also too many folks on the water.. I live here so these pics you have here are very good.. thank you for sharing these..

  • Where's a shotgun when you need it,

  • Such a beautiful film! Thank you! I love the Silver River Moneys also! Such characters!

  • @junkintrunk55 LOL!!!!

  • @EVHguitarz If they get out to the farms, the farmers have the right to protect their crops. The population became too large, and the resort trapped and sold 350 of them to a lab in PA.

I heard blow guns work great.

  • I found out that the resort caught and sold 350 of them to a lab in PA. Even they can't stand them.

  • nice video love all aspects. Glad to see all the bigots posting. Just when you think we are progressing it becomes loud and clear are not far from pond scum. Thanks for all the work in putting this together
