My vitamin D level came back 3! Yep 3! It should be I think like 60-70. I have all those symptoms & more! A lot of health problems & was just told I have degenertive eye disease, which the eye dr. Did NOT explain. Have arthritis in both feet, both knees, bladder disease, fibromyalgia! Insomnia, these and more started when I was just 29! I'm now 43, feel more like 83!!! UGH!!! Thanks for the info, I think it's a little late for me, but others, I would have your levels checked!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, contrary to what you said, shiitake mushrooms do have vitamin D; albeit a low amount. 6~7% DV. Although I personally don't believe in any of that daily value crap. Vitamin D deficiency is a problem though, since it's not in many common foods.

Hi, I thought was a good video up until the point were you said it was toxic!!?? There apparently have never been ANY deaths or listed side effects with vit d intake as far as my research has lead me to believe. This Doctor would agree: /watch?v=xdLNMEXWTL8

I take 15,000 units a day and I feel great.
By the way, there is no such thing as vitamin D toxicity, there has never been a case, that's a fact!.
Furthermore, the body makes 30,000 units in an hour when exposed to the sun. So if you hang out in the sun for 5 hours during summer, you get 150,000 units of vitamin D. Why would nature make this much? Doesn't that mean something?

She may seem all innocent and sweet but is well aware that the poor vegetables SCREAM when picked. Great video HealthyVegan! I’m sure you have a huge fan club :) My Sister swears by Vitamin-D3. Has arthritis like symptoms, says it helps hugely.
Hi. I think I have Vitamin D deficiency cause I have muscle weakness in my wrist. It's not tendonitis or RSI. And I don't want to take the Deficiency test since I have a phobia for needles. So could you please tell me what I could eat, in my area we don't get many nutrition items and my family has a strange taste for oily, and not-so-healthy foods. I would appreciate your help.

@emeralddragonex well, you want to look at all of the symptoms, not just one. If you do have vit D deficiency, the best way to catch up is to take a high quality supplement. Whole foods are the best source of nutrients overall, but if you've gotten deficient you need it in a more concentrated form. Also, there is no vit D in plant foods - not even mushrooms. The trouble is that if you don't know for sure if you're deficient, you can take too much vit D when it's a supplement - so be careful

@healthyvegan, How many IU's of D3 do you recommend a day?
Pilgrim1411 2 months ago
@Pilgrim1411 I take 1000-2000 IU per day, and that seems to be the general consensus among health professionals looking at optimal health levels, not just preventing deficiency. Check out nutrition facts dot org for some great overviews of the scientific research on vit D
