My angel I promised her we'd be dressed in a cloud
Standing on pillars on fire singing out loud
Shot from truth and love, not darkness
With the moon under your feet
Where birth goes on and rides terror
My shine will be complete

With your fire your fire
My tremolo
You're my fire

Every so softly it grows when you don't wear your armor
Crushing the burden and confusion sour
Trembling high on every leaf
Raining light down on your belief
Oh my angel unburdened by the race
I'll go down burning in your embrace

On fire, on fire
My tremolo
You're my fire

Don't take away my shine
My shine is all I have
My heat, my love, my beauty and my glad
It worries me sometimes that I want love
And live a life of sad

My tremolo
Sweet baby, my fire
My desire, fire

2003 recording at KCRW|89.9FM radio show Morning Becomes Eclectic with Nic Harcourt. Lanois and Mother Superior perform in studio songs from the album Shine.

  • I'm glad this song was on House and that Lanois was exposed to so many people.

If you like this, I urge you to listen to more of his stuff.

He is a beautiful artist. I've had the pleasure of seeing him live many times.

I do disagree in part though that House made him. He was around long before House, playing memorable music and producing some of the world's biggest musical acts.

  • Superb song from a wonderful composer, songwriter and producer - a privilege and joy to have become familiar with his work over the years, from the Brian Eno days to date. Many thanks for sharing.

  • @abcforall With U2

  • Thank you House, for letting me find this wonderfull song

  • @abcforall That's cos he's produced songs for U2. So technically they cover HIS songs ;)

  • Ehm...the guitar sounds just like a guitar piece I wrote about...ten years ago. But I've never heard this song before until...well...today @ House :D

  • Dan Lanois puts so much heart into his music. Had Acadie decades ago, loved it then but just re-discovered him with Here is What Is and now collecting all his work. Would love to see him in Black Dub but really wish I could hear him sing live. Thanks @abcforall for making this possible at least on here. Totally in love with his dark, sensual sound and him!

  • i was so depressed before i heard this.. pierced me through my soul and still does... love this song...

  • I'll admit I caught the song from an episode of house. But I didn't return to it until a late night studying. Took a smoke break and heard the lyrics echoing in my head, so I youtubed this very video after googling the lyrics to see who it was. Needless to say Lanois is amazing. His style strikes so many nodes in me that I find myself coming back to his music when ever I feel the current moment will bring nostalgia when I look back; almost as if I want to mark it with an audible scent. My Fire

  • @abcforall So ths is the song from House?! Thaaaaaaaankssss xD
