The Bountiful Utah Temple is the 47th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Bountiful Temple is the eighth temple constructed in the state of Utah. The history of this temple site began back in 1897, when John Haven Barlow Sr. purchased 40 acres (160,000 m2) of land from the United States government. Because of lack of water and the steep terrain, little could be done with the land. In 1947 some of the land was cleared and four hundred apricot trees were planted. In the spring of 1983, flash flooding caused a great deal of damage in Bountiful, resulting in the decision to build a dam across the canyon to limit the flow of water during heavy rainstorms. The city requested the use of the soil from the future temple site, so construction crews removed over two hundred thousand cubic yards of soil, leaving the area an ideal spot on which the Mormon temple would later be built.

After considering numerous sites for the temple, the final decision was made on April 3, 1988 by the First Presidency of the LDS Church. Four years later on May 2, 1992, the groundbreaking took place and on January 8, 1995 Church President Howard W. Hunter dedicated the Bountiful Utah Temple. Two hundred thousand Latter-day Saints attended the dedicatory sessions, more than had ever previously attended a temple dedication.

The Bountiful Utah Temple has a total of 104,000 square feet (9,700 m2), four ordinance rooms, and eight sealing rooms.

  • What is the music attached to the video?

  • It's listed at the end of the video in the credits.

  • The fade from 3:50 to 4:00, sunset to lighted temple was so cool. Have you thought of making a video of all the temples you've been to with their lights on at night? That would be cool, kind of a "The light never ceases" type thing. Besides, if you don't already have the footage, it'll give you an excellent excuse to go back.

  • Haha! I don't need excuses to visit the Temples wherever I go. It's the first place I plan on visiting!

  • Well you should found out exactly what it is. I would love to use this camera.

  • I should, should I? Well...since that's the case....

  • I like the fact that it sits on the side of the mountain like that. It gives me a good feeling to know the House of the Lord is overlooking us all.

You must not be familiar with them because you have not been Endowed. The Endowment is performed when a person is sealed in the temple or serves a mission for the LDS Church. There are plenty of videos on YouTube were Mormons admit to wearing garments with masonic marks on them and learning secret handshakes in their temples. "Magic Mormon Underwear" is one of them. It amazes me how you can look at these pictures of the Temple and you don't know what they do in them.

  • @EliPride11

I assume since you only attended the LDS Church as a kid that you were never Endowed.Since you were never Endowed, you never were shown the "Garments of the Holy Priesthood" (with its marks aka Garments) and the "Tokens" (aka Handshakes).A recording of the Endowment Ceremony has been uploaded on ISTHECHURCHTRUE's channel for anyone who doubts what I am saying. These are the main secrets of the Mormon Temple Endowment. The reason why you did not hear about them is that they are secrets

  • @howypartnerhotm I am mormon and those handshakes and marks... We don't have those or do that. No offense but that is not true

  • My fellow bountiful and lds peeps what's happening why does everyone take shots at us we are no different than a Jew or a catholic they are just different religions learn to live with eachother and in the long run we will see who is right or wrong please also if you make fun of this video why did you search it or watch it jeez

  • @HatchetDemetri shut updater that's offencive to not only Mormons but the rest of the people who live here in bountiful as well as disturbing natural serenity and beauty you wanna be

  • @howdypartnerhotm no offense, but when i was a kid i used to be mormon and my mum still is and i´ve never seen or heard of something like those handshakes or marks you´re talking about, just saying

  • This is my temple. I can see both it and the Bountiful Tabernacle from my front yard. I could take pictures of them both from my front lawn. Beautiful!

  • The reason why the LDS will not talk about what goes on in the Temple Endowment is not because it is sacred. The reason is because it is bizarre and if most members knew about it then they would realize that the LDS Church is fiction. They teach handshakes that allows a person to enter the Celestial Kingdom and the marks of the holy priesthood (which are just a square, compass, and level). The marks of the holy priesthood are just taken from freemasonry and are not of ancient judaic origins.

  • I went and pissed on this temple
