http://www.netbooknews.com Want to take on a design challenge? Try designing 4 games in a 4Kb Cartridge! This is merely an example for Ian Bogost to discuss his book Racing the Beam, The Atari Video Computer System. It takes a look at the development of the first popular video game platform through the lens of six game cartridges to show how the developers of those games, for better or worse, laid the ground work for the industry Atari helped spawn.

  • @Longuncattr You're right, I should have known better than to expect a quality response to a rhetorical question I asked a year ago. Read the description and tags. My professor showed off this game at GDC and it's embarrassing.

  • @FTWization Where do modern games and Georgia Tech come into this? All you asked is why someone would write games on the VCS given its constraints.

Anyway, AtariAge would be a better place to ask that question than YouTube.

  • @Longuncattr The constraints are not applicable to the constraints of modern games. This is a hobby and should not be taught at Georgia Tech.

  • @FTWization Why not?

  • why would you intentionally want to be limited by constraints?

  • nice

  • that's actually kinda interesting, i used to have an Atari 2600 and i still play the emulator sometimes .. this could mean new games (roms) .. kewl!
