Please protect this with everything you've got. He was a Great. You didn't "hear" David sing. It was a physical, visceral experience that, if you were a singer, left you awestruck. I don't believe there's a recording out there that conveys the actuality of it. From an artistic, archival point of view, the story of the cast recording of Grand Hotel is a crime. Hammering out the legalities took (what may have been) years, and with "the seconds running out..." a great, great loss was realized.
Where on earth did you find this gem? Is it a live version that was recorded of David Carroll? Because, of course as you no doubt realize, the released Broadway version only includes DC's cabaret version of "Love Can't Happen." (The Baron's other songs were sung by Brent Barrett. This song is a sad reminder of what a great talent and actor DC was. He's sorely missed.

Spectacular! That voice is a real gift , Brent Barrett is amazing and has a super voice but no one will be David
