I put some in my Robo's tank and he just ate it. I left it there. Maybe he'll figure out what to do with it tonight.

OMG he's so cute! It's funny to watch him run away after he runs out of the bowl, look at his feet. LOL

is a special sand for them? as chinchillas!
-
omg i never knew that but now my hamster died... tear*

@archon808 Sand works. It will scrub and condition their fur, and they like rolling in it.
Chinchilla dust may do a better job of cleaning, but with the downside that rock dust can be bad for their little lungs. If you provide dust, you should strictly limit the availability of baths, whereas clean sand is safe to leave in their cage.
That is actually Chinchilla dust in this video; that's what Sweet Pea liked. But overall I still recommend sand over dust.

Is it safe to give your hamster a sand bath?
Do you have to get special chinchilla sand or play sand? Please reply.

@epicpup All that really matters, is that it's clean.
Beach sand is problematic, because of pollutants and garbage. Sandbox sand will be rougher, but it should be clean enough. Pet store sand will be best, both smoother grains and (hopefully) carefully cleaned.
But as long as the sand is clean, it's ok for your robo.

aww =D so do you just buy some clean sand from pet store and that will clean?

@TheHobbyHub Yup. It's as much conditioning for their hair/skin as cleaning. But it's all good.
