More info on my blog here: http://bit.ly/bH5C6E

Now that it's been a few weeks since I went under the knife for my AC joint separation shoulder surgery and I can finally sit at a computer for longer than 20 minutes, so I thought that a video recap of my shoulder surgery was pretty much necessary.

  • @hupandsteph Hi, I would like to know how long you had to stay in a sling for and how soon did you start physiotherapy? I had a similar operation and after 3 weeks doctors have referred me to a PT and got me doing all kinds of movements. Elephant trunk stuff, But also raising my arm above my head and I feel my shoulder is not quite ready for that. Be interested to know what you had to do..And how your shaping up now. Many thanks

  • @MaxDemboNo1 if I can remember correctly, I was in a sling for at least a couple of months before I even started to think about rehab. After that I had a couple months of rehab and then I was pretty much on my own. I healed up pretty quickly, but the sling was more to protect me from myself if I fell and tried to catch myself. A couple of years later I'm feeling great and I'm back to running a lot and being active. Just give it some time and you'll be good to go in no time.

  • I got to admit thats funny way of documenting a surgery before and after.I have a nub that I have gotten from playing football almost 3 or 4 years ago. I talked to a few PTs and they said its a class 3 AC separation. I been thinking about surgery for the last few years and I wondering if its worth getting it? I have some problems with it especially working out.

  • @Jerps02 I couldn't imagine not having the surgery, so if you can afford it you should definitely do it. My insurance covered it, which was really awesome, but if there's a way for you to have surgery, do it.

  • Hi there..I have the same thing..My accident was two weeks ago and I am healing slow but sure.

But yes I'm left with a 'NUB' as you put it and my doctor said surgery isn't necessary unless you are in pain. But I def want it removed..So I was wondering how long was it after your accident you decided to have surgery?

Much appreciate the info when you have a mo..Cheers

  • @ferdinandoNo1 I knew that I was going to have surgery very soon after the accident happened. I was blessed to have some really good surgeons who work on this specific injury a lot (there are a lot of skiers, mountain bikers and surfers here in the Bay Area), so I met with them a few days after my injury and we scheduled a surgery that was a couple of weeks after that. I knew that I wanted it fixed, so it went fast.

  • @HupandSteph Hi i am also planning on getting this type of surgery, how much money was it to get your procedure done? Thanks in advance man. PS Stephs a keeper :P

  • @HupandSteph So I finally went to the Doctor at Iowa Ortho for my nub. I just need to schedule surgery sometime this year. You have any advice before and after the surgery?

  • @HupandSteph Hi, I had a Type 3 ac separation, i have a bump on my shoulder that looks exactly like yours. im defenetly going to op for the surgery method and my insurance covers it. but id like to know, from someone whos already gone thru this. is there "insider" information even insignificant information that might interesting for me to know if its of no bother to you.

Oh and the doctor is even going to use the same procedure of taking a ligament from a cadaver and drill on me. im only 20

  • Go video you guys. I had same surgery and I'm at home recuperating on day 3. My was grade 5 separation from an Ironman bike fall. I ended up staying overnight. The level of injury and level of activity are considerations for surgery. No choice since I want to keep doing IMs. Thanks for the entertainment and info. Oppps time for another delaudid.
