Low recoil, but also a slow rate of fire. I would still prefer the the higher rate of fire M2 .50 HMG.

@kodiakguy280 not really if you have ever seen combat if this is mounted on a hummwv you could you it in urban combat with high stopping power yet less collateral damage and im sure that if shots go off in a so called crowed close people will panic and hide your acting like your making sense but you are under analyzing things

That gun is a waste of time. Sure it can 'ring the hurt' but when fighting a guerrilla war (i.e. the current 'war on terror' shame going on), this gun is useless. All the so-called 'enemy' needs is a sniper in a window, who takes out a few guys, diches the rifle, blends in with the crowed, then all the effort the US army can muster will do nothing.

@keldfc Recoil dampening (sliding barrels, suspensions, etc) - which spreads the impulse out in time - does not significantly change the performance of the weapon. But the max force from the recoil is far lessened, and it can operate without the sandbags. The other factor is the 40mm mk19 vs the 25mm xm307. The 40mm is well above the size where bigger (7.62 vs 5.56) automatically means better range.

i just wonder if these kinds of lowrecoil-weapons, can hit at the same distance, as those who doesnt have lowrecoil? i mean,, doesnt the lowrecoil-mecanism, make it less effective, at long range/distance? that is, if it didnt had this mecanism, could it hit at a longer distance? i hope i made myself clear?-)
