http://ChessNoir.com This was at the Reykjavic Rapid 2004 tournament where some of the world's best players competed.

A rapid game between the past and future world champion? 2 of the worlds greatest players indeed. I wonder what would happen if they were to play now.

Interesting that sometime after this, Kasparov started coaching Carlsen for a while.

  • Just 1 question for mr. Garry Kasparov: U mad, bro? ;D

  • They have cut this video in a very annoying way, portraying Kasparov as weak as possible and Magnus the opposite.

  • @ThePaul1E Kasparov was weak. He didnt think he should go in defence against a 13 year old from the best country in the world.

  • justin bieber defeat kasparov ?

  • @dsadwarf because they are on 24 minutes. These clocks only show seconds when you have less than 20 minutes.

  • Why aren't the clocks moving at 2:25?

  • magnus is a BAWSSSS ASSS NAME

  • @321Bort he was 4 years later , remember this is 2004.....

  • Kasparov anguished by the ultra surprising move 1.d4... LOL

    You guys crack me up.

  • @54321SG OK, I guess my use of the term "fake" was too strong. I am sure the game was real. I still don't understand how Carlsen was forced to wait for Kasparov and not allowed to move and start the clock at the proper starting time. I also thought this video was done very badly, trying to make the game more dramatic and not even showing the shots in the proper order (you can tell this by looking at the board layouts of the different shots)

  • @jansuch This is not fake. I was there. Kasparov is not "anguished" by the move 1. d4. No one would be in anguish because of the first move by the oponent in a simple rapid game. If you had seen Kasparov play from time to time you would know that he often conducts himself like this, sort of like he is mentally preparing or somehing. At 2:27 the clocks do not seem to be running, simply because they both had 24. minutes left. "24" will only change to "23" after the entire minute has passed.
