One of the amazing things about the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ is the thought that the eternal God entered this world as a helpless baby, wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger. Jesus identified himself with the weak and helpless, coming to make them new. The author of this hymn, William Walsham How, was himself an English Bishop who had a significant ministry to the poor in London's East End. Watch as Joseph Waggoner and Rev. R. Scott MacLaren sing this beautiful hymn during the Christmas Sunday Worship Service at First Presbyterian Church in Perkasie, PA (USA; www.firstchurchopc.org).
